Put the Vancouver Kool-Aid cups down. They got a guy playing in the second level Swedish league, a guy who is 50/50 at best of becoming an NHL player and a 4th round pick (maybe a 1st but the chances of that are slim).
They still have an aging team all signed for next season as well (except for Miller). They haven't done anything to start a rebuild.

I also have a scolding take on my boys calling Vancouver the winner.

You can't win when your team sucks and you're unloading. This is like when a certain lunatic recently gave a speech that was lauded due to the fact the bar so low that all he had to do was get through it without sexually harassing anyone or bullying any disabled people or minorities.

ON this bell-curve, Jim Benning wins the day. But I think the team that actually tried to get better has to get the credit.

If Vancouver really had the best day, Edler wouldn't still be on the team. They might have gotten multiple pieces for Chris Tanev. Erickson would be gone, hell, a creative GM might have found the Sedins a new place to play.

weren't you the same guy drooling over what the leafs did over the last 18 months, turning older players into prospects and picks.

now you criticize the canucks, who are in the same spot the leafs were last year, for doing the same thing.

That Burrows trade is highway robbery. They did a fantastic job swindling the Sens. Whether or not Dahlen becomes a high impact top 6 or not is moot. They traded a player in big time decline for a budding young blue chip prospect, you can't ask for a better deal than that.

I love how Leafs fans now think they are experts on rebuilding.
There isn't one player in the league I'd trade Guldobin for.

Hmmm...
didn't you praise the Leafs last year for dumping like crazy?
I think a lot of the blogger/"experts" on here were saying how amazing the Leafs were for doing the same thing. Can't say it one year for a team you like and then do a 180 the following year because you don't like VAN/Benning.

It really doesn't. Are we really at that point? Even with hockey, someone can't just have an opinion? He has to be secretly jealous?

Everyone who disagrees with you isn't a hater. This is ridiculous.

The Canucks didn't go far enough, was my main point. The Leafs were very efficient at what they were doing and finished last.

But that aside, a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.....

Put the keyboard down man...trade the Sedins.

Oh sure, why don't we just all wear our pants backwards too.

Both of these things only happen in the 90's.

Your opinion is different from everyone, not just mine.

This is your schtick, saying something so far off and getting a reaction. I enjoy doing that sometimes, but it's your life. You eat and breath saying the opposite of everyone. Your life is a very lonely place, you don't get hugs, kisses or anyone saying that's a good point James. All you get is, "that was a dumb thing to say".

True, but you clearly are. Remember most on here are smarter than you. We see through your thinly veiled hate.

HB has always had a resident shmuck. This time it's you. But you will be replaced shortly when EK grows tired of your BS.

Edler has a full NTC
Trading Tanev would leave us with no capable top pairing D-man
Erickson and his contract... well who is going to take him.
And as far as the Sedins, name a team that is willing to add 14 million in 2 players who are currently on the downhill of their careers.

I love how Benning made our team considerably worse and virtually guaranteed that we'll be fighting for last place overall for the foreseeable future - and everyone thinks he's doing a wonderful job!

His job isn't to get us Nolan Patrick, it's to get us the Cup. These trades guarantee we aren't even going to be competing for the Cup (heck, even the playoffs) until the 2020's at the earliest.

So, yes, he managed to get a good return. But, no, he didn't make our team any better in the short-run (or even the middle-run).

Also, just remember this... We have a team filled with AHL quality youngsters who need to learn - and we just gave away the only two veterans we had who always left everyting out on the ice. The only two. Wouldn't want the kids to pick up that habbit!

This is the exact reason I always say Vancouver has the worst hockey fans. You clearly don't understand anything about the game. I bet you're one of those people yelling shoot the puck the entire game.

The Canucks did just about everything they could.
Trading Miller would have made sense... but the goalie market is not exactly strong. (...and I think Miller would only accept trades to Cali based teams due to his 'actress' wife)
